ABOUT Mansfield

Synopsis

Since 1917, the Mansfield Training School and Hospital has been a staple in the local Connecticut community. Succeeding the “Connecticut School for Imbeciles” in Lakeville, Connecticut, the school opened up in Mansfield as an asylum to treat those with mental illness. At the height of its operation, it housed over 1,800 patients and featured over 50 buildings. Sadly, there were serious questions about its conditions. Numerous reports and allegations of mistreatment left the hospital struggling. After facing multiple lawsuits and other legal action, the Mansfield Training School was forced to close down in 1993.

A quarter century later, the buildings still stand as a part of the National Register of Historic Places. Stories of troubled souls and restless spirits wandering the halls have taken over the town. With much of its history still hidden behind the haunted doors of the facility, this movie explores the past of this eerie hospital. It will uncover all the truths - the pain, and suffering in hopes to bring justice to the patients and free their unsettled souls.
